In 2000 she began selling Spanx shapewear in major department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Soon she received a life changing call- from Oprah Winfrey who loved the idea of body slimming, toeless panty hose and she featured Spanx shapewear as one of her annual favorite things. The rest is history. Today, Spanx shape wear, based in Atlanta, is a $150 million company with 55 employees and 100 different styles. Since 2000, around 5.4 million Spanx shapewear products have been sold and for 2008, Spanx shapewear products sold for $350 million globally. Sara Blakely ahs been showered with accolades.
