People wear watches for many reasons. They wear

There are certain types of people who just have a stroke of bad luck when it comes to their personal accessories. Regardless if it is their watch or jewelry, they cannot help but ding or damage it on occasion. Sometimes the damage is nil or negligible but unfortunately there are times when the damage is far from it. I am talking about broken glass on watches, broken bands, scratched up or nicked jewelry, broken gold chains and then some. And these are but a few things that can go wrong with your jewelry and/or watches. Jewelry repair and watch repair can save you the headaches of what to do with your defective accessory. You do not have to disregard or throw them away anymore. With a little patience, money, and skill (from an expert, of course) you can have it fixed for you.
Naturally, you should do your best to avoid damaging or potentially destroying your watches or jewelry. First off, never wear either when doing something strenuous. I have seen both men and women wear nice watches at the gym and that is just asking for trouble. Think about it for a second, you are walking around a lot of heavy metal equipment and lifting heavy weights around while at the gym. Sooner rather than later, your accessory will hit something hard or vice versa and odds are that it is your accessory that will be damaged. My advice: do not wear expensive items on you at the gym. There is only so much watch repair or jewelry can do for you; they certainly cannot perform miracles.
Practice common sense when wearing out your favorite, and sometimes even expensive, watch, ring, or what-have-you. Wear a long-sleeve shirt or jacket when wearing a watch to reduce its risk of having the glass scratched or broken. Make sure jewelry like necklaces are not too loose; this will avoid it getting snagged onto something and having it rip the necklace from you person.
